MSI2SMS tool imports MSI and MST packages into Systems Management Server 2003 creating Package, Programs, Advertisement and desired settings without the need to use SMS console, the information is extracted directly from the MSI Package.

The MSI2SMS import tool not only saves time and effort it also ensures that a standard naming convention is used for Package, Programs and Advertisement throughout Systems Management Server 2003.

Is MSI2SMS a freeware tool? IF so where can it be downloaded? IF not where can it be purchased?

    Hi Garth,

The app was pretty customised for a particular company and it expects the MSI or MST to have certain properties and naming conventions.

I am currently working on a generic app called msi2sccm very original name 🙂 and I will post a download link when it’s ready – I just need to update the app to use WMI as I cannot distribute the ConfigurationManagement.ManagementProvider assembly from the SDK.

Sorry for late reply my site has stopped emailing me when someone posts..

Hi Gareth

I have a similar tool we used to use in our Enterprise Bank system. It’s written in VB script and XML for SMS2003.When will your tool be complete and where can one access this?

Many Thanks

I will drop you an email in a week or so if you would like to test the app.
